I figured I would share some of the more interesting claims I run across with you guys. Here's one that came across my desk today...


This came from a collision claim where the insd was rear-ended that we are handling:

Insd states that her daughter's drivers license was being revoked. Police stated that they found pot seeds in the insd's vehicle. Insd states that she is fighting this. Insd is in the process of obtaining a lawyer. Insd states that the entire situation was weird. Police from the reservation were allowed to come off the reservation and search the insd's vehicle.

He was approaching 8th Ave i/s, there is a small hump in road with rail road tracks that you have to cross over just before getting to the i/s. Insd doesn't remember if he was going to turn left at i/s or go straight - either way takes him to work and he changes it up. Insd never remembers looking at the light signal, unknown if it was green or red when he passed thru. Insd says he doesn't remember any other veh's around on either road. Insd says that his vision was not blocked by anything, possibly the sun. The 1st time he saw the other veh clmt was approx 5 ft from insd's left. Insd tried to stop but was too late.

This one was reported as a theft, but teh police will not allow her to file a police report as theft:

Insd vehicle parked on the street. Insd ex boyfriend came into her work and asked for insd keys and he stated that he would make a scene if insd did not give him the keys. Insd was afraid that her customers might get hurt and gave him her keys. Vehicle found totalled, the ex boyfriend had sold the vehicle for drugs.

Isn't domestic violence combined with drug use awesome!

What a horrible way to start the new year...

Per insd parked vehicle was parked outside of garage. Insd was held at knife point, and forced to get into the car with clmt. Clmt then drove off with insd in the vehicle. Clmt stopped to purchase crack drugs with insd money. After sexually assaulting the insd, the insd was eventually able to get away from clmt by jumping out of the car. The clmt then drove off with the vehicle.

We will do what we can to get this poor lady into a new vehicle as quickly as possible.

Insds daughters boyfriend was driving her car when he hit a tree. It was dark outside. No further details.

Yeah right, he hit the tree because it was dark!

Insd loaned a police officer the veh durning hurricane Katrina. Now the police officer doesn't know where he put the veh durning the hurricane.

Don't you hate it when you can't remember where you put something... like an SUV!!!

Insd's son had backed from drive, was adjusting rearview mirror, reached for cell phone and struck clmt's parked vehicles.

And they say cell phone aren't dangerous.

This was a stolen vehicle that was recovered by the police. As far as we know, no suspects were apprehended.

Note from SIU (Special Investigations Unit) rep:

was out with ADA at Copart looking at another vehicle when he asked me to look at this vehicle. There is extensive front end damage to vehicle. Vehicle appears to have hit a pole. There is substance on rear of vehicle that appears to be blood and damage to the rear bumper. There is fingerprints on the decklid in this substance. The interior shows that there were back seat passengers in the vehicle. The front seats are twisted and there are signs of impact damage to the seat backs.

Well that is exactly what happend to us at our parents house when my truck was totaled, Emily's car was totaled, and Garrett's car was hit.

So what is this dude's insurance rate, would you say?

Probably way too much, but I'm sure he paid for it in cash anyway. All of the high $ cars seem to be paid in cash. Very few are ever financed when we get a claim. What's a few thousand $$ each month when you can afford to drop $90K on a car.

By the way, that's the one he had to leave behind. He took his other, more expensive car with him...
