The Goats
We had a claim in which a guy with a red, older model Mustang was chased around the car and onto the hood by some goats. The goats then proceeded to ram the car and try to jump up on it, damaging the body and paint. The goats had escaped from a neighbor's yard.
I could just imagine this guy going out to go to work and shooing some goats in his yard, then when the goats attack, he jumps up on the car and is stranded there until the goats go away. All the while some comical music is playing in the background.
Goats can be mean. My Grandpa used to have a goat when he lived in Arkansas and it used to chase us around and try to eat our clothes.

the trick with goats is to hold your ground and look big.

OPCC#1 = Operator for Claimant's Car (vehicle #1) OPCC#2 = Operator for Claimant's Car (vehicle #2) PCC = Passenger in Claimant's Car INSD = Insured (our policy holder)
This very sad claim happened in the DFW area...
FYI... head on collisions significantly increase the speed factors in accident. Drunk driver and CC#2 were both speeding, INSD was not. INSD was able to avoid accident, CC#2 died along with one of her children.
FYI... WEAR SEAT BELTS! - Ejections typically don't occur if you have a seat belt on. No matter how bad the accident, you are safer in the car than on the road.

Ok, so this isn't a claims issue, but it is some of the stupid s#!t I have to deal with as a manager. You would think I am running a highschool or worse, a day care at times...
I've been out sick 2 days. About an hour and a half into my first day back, I get a call from the HR director for the region. "What the heck happened while I was gone!" I am thinking as I exchange the normal plesantries with him. Well, it appears that yesterday, one of my employees started complaining about another employee passing gas in the cubicle next to them. A female employee telling on another female employee.
Did they tell their supervisor? No! Did they tell their manager (me) or one of my peers? No! Did they go to my boss, the Regional Claims Manager? NO! They went straight to HR!
Guys, if you have a problem, go to your manager first. If they can't help or are part of the problem, then escalate.
Anyway, so the HR guy tells me the employee making the complaint wanted us to buy air fresheners for the office. OMG are you kidding me! Calling HR to get an air freshener!
So, at 10:00 today I got to take one of my employees, a female employee, into the conference room and have a discussion with her about passing gas. Not a big deal, but really, is this what I need to be doing on my first day back after being out for two days? I have 245 new e-mails, 25 claims notes to review, a denial to look over, and paperwork for a new employee to process, not to mention 2 scheduled meetings to attend, and I have to drop everything to talk to someone about farting in their cubicle? Come on! This is supposed to be a professional environment.
Needless to say it was very frustrating, yet humerous at the same time. Do you know how hard it is to tell someone that "a complaint was made about you passing gas... if it is a medical condition, can we make a reasonable accomidation" with a straight face?
Anyway, she took it well. It has been a dietary change and she doesn't think it is a big deal - "No worse than sneezing". But she will try to leave the area when she feels it coming on. She thought it was very funny as well.
I still can't believe such a big deal was made out of this...

HAHA... Nope not her. She has a very direct and blunt personality. She doesn't have any ettiquette. She's been training for another Triathalon lately which is the reason for the "dietary change".

LoL. That is something else. At least the person you had to talk to took it with a bit of humor. It would have sucked if they got up in arms about it too. ~laughs~ Still, wow. haha.

$215,000 2006 Lamborhgini claim that may be fruadulent. Yeah! Those are always fun.
To make it better, the guy owns/insures a 95 Altima and just rented the Lam for a date then wrecked it. Only $500 a day. I sure hope it was worth it...

Lambo (Lamborhgini) claim update:
So, after some additional research, we find out that the person renting the lambo, rented it from his boss, using his boss' wife's credit card. Further, the vehicle is titled to one of his coworkers, who also owns a Ferrari that was recently involved in a large loss. Funny thing is, the ferrari is titled at the same address as our current claim on the lambo. There is also speculation that there have been several BMW claims from this same group of 4 people. Unfortuantely, we really can't do anything unless there is some proof the are purposely frauding us. We can't pursue it just on speculation.
These are the claims I hate! You know some B@ST@RD is frauding us, but you have no proof to be able to stop it. Grrrrrrr....

hmm...can you decline to cover them going forward? I know that when we get a client that's more of a loss and we realize they are trumping up participation artifically we can give them an absurd renewal and cause them to leave, or term their coverage.
