I played on the boundless galaxy map (which has 2 asteroid fields that are close to the starting point of each player)
Here is what I did…
Build harvest control mod & advanced sensor array
Build 3 resource collectors Build 3 mobile refineries Leave 10 collectors and 2 refineries on my starting asteroids and then move the mothership and the 3rd refinery to the second field which is closer to the center of the map.
Build 3 scouts Build corvette module Build capital module Build 10 collectors Build 1 refinery Build 6 gunships Build research station
Build crew station
Build 3 destroyers Build 8 refineries Build carrier
Ohh also as soon as your research mod is finished on your research station then I build my defence control tower, then immidiatly after that I build the missile system.

Well,
I played a few games at Grant's today: me as H, against 2 expert V's. I won once, but I had to keep reloading the game cuz the comp kept killing me (so the win hardly counts). I tried Grant's tactic of building 3 destroyers rather than a carrier and a destroyer. It works very well for gaining the edge, but since I charged my mom from the beginning, I had trouble when it came time to make my carrier. The computer kept killing it before I could get it out of range (remembering that I was in hth with the comps mom). Also, the comp has been doing lots of module hate lately, and this makes building 3 destroyers particularily bad, since, if the comp can successfullly keep your capital ship module destroyed, and you don't have a carrier, then you're pretty much screwed.

I just want to say you suck Garrett ...you called me while I was in the shower, I called you back not 2 minutes later and no answer. LoL Well its 8:26, so I'm gonna call you and Grant and see if either of you are there and ready to play. Got Laken playing again today, so maybe we'll have 3 of us on together vs the computer. Laken just started back up, so he's relearning it. but digging it;)

Sry about that. Having phone problems (as always). I'm checking into ppd today and will get out Friday. Hopefully we can play a little this weekend.
BTW, I've now beaten two V's at expert with H. It was a good game (and no restarts).

Awsome So whats your general tactic? Are you using grant's tactic of building the research station later/rather than sooner? I tested that out, think I like it. Seems to work well, though I haven't sat down and put it to the clock to be sure. Any other tactics that you found you had to use to manage 2 vagyr? Which map (number of players) etc.

I build the research station very early, right after I have enough harvesters/refineries for my two resource patches.
I played entirely defensive through the mid-game, and build a carrier and one destroyer rather than three destroyers before the crew upgrades. I'm not sure why but it was suprisingly easy. I'll get back as regards to the map I used (can't remember right now).

The second time I attempted 2 expert vayger I lost misrably, prehaps it was a fluke...we will see in further tests.

Just Beat 2 Vagyr experts/same team wooo Fought on 4player Foundry 2 map. I went with grant's 'wait on research' tactic, though I did build a carrier/1 destroyer initially instead. Also combined those with my MShip rush on the first vagyr opponent. I failed to use the scout as a lure, but I had enough refineries and anti fighter guns at my initial patch to hold them off. Plus my carrier was building corvettes to help defend. It was close....with them sending frigates as reinforcements JUST as I polished off the first Vagyr MShip. I managed to get my lone destroyer into the defense of my resource patch, just enough to tip the balance. Then after that, it was a mop up. Stats: CPU2 died in 45:18 CPU3 died in 1:07:28 I 'just' barely unlocked my third teir of research as my mothership was finishing off the 2nd Vagyr mothership. I didn't even make it to the battle cannon. Combat Fleet Na'Voi: 80 ships built, 19 lost, 124 enemies killed. Total Score 181.0k CPU2: 64 ships built, 64 lost, 7 enemies killed. Total Score 6.6k CPU3: 116 ships built, 116 lost, 11 enemies killed. Total Score 9.6k Resource Fleet Na'Voi 178k harvested, 211k spent, 26 Havesters, 11 refineries. CPU2: 96k harvested, 78k spent, 24 Harvesters, 3 refineries CPU3: 155k harvested, 139k spent, 48 Harvesters, 3 refineries. I completed 14% of Hiigaran research. They completed 15% & 24% respectively.

Just tried the same map, but with all three enemy slots filled with a team of Hard Vagyr.
I lost about 53 minutes in. It was brutal. I messed up a couple of my normal things early on, but even so..it was just rough. I managed to 'almost' kill one of the Vagyr, before I had to retreat my mothership to help defend my primary patch of resourcing.
From there it just slid downhill. Still, entertaining as all hell. hehe.

Garrett mentioned somting interesting the other day that might be fun...try the bigest map and fill all the slots with easy or standard opponents.

Yeah, I'll try that He'd mentioned that earlier, and I thought it sounded like fun. Just haven't gotten around to it just yet. I've got at least one more rematch with those 3 hard opponents first. hehe.

Woooo.. beat 3 hard vagyr teamed. It all just came down to fending off their initial attacks long enough to be able to break the mothership off on her attack run. This time, I wasen't able to seperate my MShip onto the offensive till I was able to build ion destroyers (which I did as I engaged) I did use one squadron of 10 bombers (7, then 3 more reinforcing) on the first vaygr I killed, to take out his defense tower (and other modules, though it was really only that I was worried about) I kept mine guns building off of my carrier along with a bunch of refineries to defend. This game I even wasted alot of time upgrading my crew/research station with defense AND movement increases...and this time they never were able to mount even one good attack. The ONE time they sent frigates against my backup base, I had enough to pretty much squash the attempt outright, without having to retreat my crew/research station. By the end of the game, I just kept cranking out Ion Destroyers on my mothership (which was fitted with Defense/Fire Control/Drive/MFG +torp,shield/ion I think I like having that MFG on my MShip...seemed to help over time. So between the IDestroyers & MShip offense (then ion later), I just moved from base to base to base, wiping them out. I used my Mineguns to kill one carrier, and lost all but 2 at one point (god I hate watching that many ships pop. haha) Defending against that many opponents, my honor was at about 50 before I even pop'd my crew station out, much less researched the upgrade. And even though I did rush the computer as early as I was able to, to shut down one computer... defending against three, I did end up staying at 'home' longer. I pop'd a carrier, research and crew all onto my 2nd (and main) resource patch prior to taking my MShip on the offensive. Also, the starting patch only held 7 resourcers, so I left those 7 and 2 refineries right at the begining of the game, and moved. The computer only attacked that patch one time, and only with a few fighters that had fled my MShips defenses after almost wiping on an previous attack. Stats: Ships Built- 94 Ships Lost- 34 Ships Killed- 221 RU Harvest- 220.9k RU Spent- 253.4k Harvesters- 21 Refineries- 15 Production Ships- 4 (MShip/Carrier/Research/Crew) didn't get to a shipyard Subsystems- 30 %Research- 20% Spent on Reasearch- 96.6k CPU2 died in 48 minutes CPU3 died in 58 minutes CPU1 died in 1 hour 11 minutes In all, the battle is different, but I'm not sure 3 hards were as tough as 2 expert. I'll try doing 5 standard next.

So Laken has been playing HW2 alot lately... and getting better. He's still not as competitive maybe as we are, his play style lends itself more to enjoying the build up game. BuuuuuT... he's getting to where he'd good even against harder/multiple computer CPUs, so will likely be ready for some player vs player team stuff soon.
That being said, I look forward to us playing with 4+ people soon. I can't wait to play in a large mass chaos game, and also some 2 on 2..or 3 on 3...mmmm..crazy:)

Uggg.. just tried playing Hiig vs 5 allied Vagyr standards. (open cosmos)
After a very very grueling game, with lots of maneuvering, strike and counter strike..... I 'almost' killed one computer, then had to retreat...
I lost after an hour and 16 minutes. hehe
I did take out 148 of 501 total enemy ships built(all enemies added together) with my meager 68 ships built.
Very fun game. I'll try it again on Easy, and see how that goes.
