New Year's Eve is a Sunday night this year. I figure most of us probably have the next day off. So... Who wants to get together and party? We can do a gift exchange for the Christmas side, have a warm fire, dinner, and even drinks. After that we can just stay up late and talk, play games, or generally have a good time. We would like to get invitations out this week. Even so, I would like to get an idea who all might be coming. If you are planning on coming or already know that you have plans, go ahead and post so we can get an idea of how big of a group we may have. Hope to see you all there, Chad & Adonna

More details...
We will be having our Christmas and New Years Parties together this year on December 31st. Adonna will be sending invitations soon. We would love to have you all come, and will post more details over the next week to help remind everyone. For now, here are the three highlights of the party:
For Christmas, we will be doing the dice game again. Participation is voluntary of course, but if you want to play, bring several creatively wrapped gifts worth no more than $5 (they can be less, and the dollar store is a great place to get them). Some can be fun gifts. some funny gifts, some cool gifts, or whatever you want to bring. Try not to spend any more than $20 total (it is ok to keep it as cheap as possible and it is OK to re-gift used items that you no longer need, so technically you could spend nothing and still come up with a few gifts.) The rules and such will be explained in more detail at the party.
For my sister Susan's birthday we will be enjoying a cake and probably a song. Gifts are not required or expected, but if you know her and want to bring something, she would probably enjoy it.
Finally, we will spend the rest of the night celebrating this last year (or trying to drink it away for some) and enjoy just drinking and having a good time. There will be several bottles of wine and there are still a few beers in the fridge, but as normal, you may want to BYOB. Anyone who wants to relax and get drunk is welcome to spend the night and kids are welcome, though we will probably lock them upstairs for bed after 9:00 or so.
See you all there, and if not, MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New Year’s Eve Party Reminder Less than a week away now! Just wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming New Year’s Eve Party. I will list details below, but wanted to let everyone know what the plan was. You can show up when ever you want, but most people won’t start arriving until after 8:00. Most of the food and snacks should be ready by 9:00, as well as Sue’s birthday cake. We will try to start the dice game around 10:00, but (due to a potential Hockey game) this might be delayed a bit. From there we just relax, hang out and have a great time bringing in the new year. Food -------------------- There will be a ham and some appetizers available, but you are encouraged to bring other appetizers and snacks. There will also be wine, some beer, and possibly mixed drinks available, as well as something to toast the new year to, but you still might BYOB to ensure that no one is forced to remain sober. Lodging -------------------- As people will likely enjoy plenty to drink, they are welcome to stay the night and sleep it off. We will find a place for everyone who needs or wants to stay the night. As an added bonus, anyone who spends the night will be treated to breakfast in the morning. Fun & Games -------------------- While most people will probably just hangout and talk, there will be a number of games out and available to help pass the time. However, if you have any good party games, feel free to bring them as well, and we will see what everyone wants to do. Dice Game (Present Exchange) -------------------- This is a fairly simple game in which everyone usually gets a couple of random gifts, but everyone also tends to have a great time in the process. Gifts: Everyone bring several (2 – 5) gifts each. These can be serious, funny, white elephant, or basically anything. The more variety the better, but no gift should cost you more than $5.00 (however cheaper or even free gifts are acceptable and expected). The key is not the gift itself, but rather how you wrap it, so get creative and make sure you wrap in new and crazy ways! Rules: When the game starts, all of the gifts are placed in the center. A pair of dice (or several pairs of dice) are passed from player to player. Each player rolls the dice once and if doubles are rolled they get to either pick a gift out of the center or steal one from another player and then roll again. THE GIFTS ARE NOT OPENED, so this is all based on the size, shape, and wrapping on the presents, not the presents themselves. You cannot steal someone’s last gift and you cannot hide your gifts. Once the last gift is taken from the center, a timer starts, allowing the players one last chance to steal the gifts from each other. When the timer goes off, the game is over and everyone opens their gifts to see what their luck and thievery has got them. Gifts can be traded or given away as desired. The whole idea is speed and getting the most in number as well as the most interesting gifts, so roll fast and always take the most interesting gifts.
