This independent documentary film was a good choice. It opened at GenCon where the 3 DMs featured in the film were running a campaign. The female DM was a LARPer and dressed as a drow even when DMing. She also played WoW 24/7. One guy was an author and part-time apartment manager, and one guy was an Air Force reservist whose wife strongly disliked his D&D hobby. At one point she said, "I don't get it."
The director did a good job in selecting the 3 as they were different enough to make following them interesting. The drow and the author seemed to be creative and fun DMs who enjoyed challenging their players. The reservist was a mean DM (to the point of being a real prick). He told his players how to play their characters and punished them for "their greediness" by killing them all. At the GenCon game table he was shown telling at least 3 players, "You just lost a level." In the end he resigned from his 7 year campaign and out of the 9 players only 4 of them contacted him about his decision. One of those 4 took over as DM.
Many of the people in the audience seemed to relate to the film. The young guys sitting next to me were a constant stream of commentary (I almost told them to shut up at one point). The director was introduced before the documentary was shown but due to the late hour he declined to hold the Q&A session afterwards.
I'd see this again if I had the chance.
