Yeah I didn't realize it at first either, but it is basically a one way gate.
It doesn’t work for fighters, and am not sure about corvettes but it dose work for mobile refineries, scavengers, frigates, & capital ships. But basically any unit close to the Chimera Station can make a hyper space jump (you still have to pay the cost) to anywhere on the board. So it is not really a gate system but rather will just allow ships close to it to do a Hyper Jump. It is really nice for getting a scavenger full of collectors to a resource patch quickly, or jumping a bunch of frigates to a battle quickly. Or even to jump the Chimera Station to a bunch of units, then jump those units out then jump the Chimera Station out.

fun fun.. that will make for some very interesting player vs player tactical work. The poor AI of hw2c can't keep up with all the new modifications I don't think.

6.5.1 has been released! Also, the AI is bloody fierce now. I'm talking about the AI setting up multiple positions and attacking from multiple directions and all kinds of craziness. I'm finding the AI alot harder to beat now than before. So new infoz. Apparently, you can set your Hiig Battlecruisers to passive to avoid the bug where the Ion module forces it to face backwards when attacking (if you build that instead of plasma cannons) Tulwar frigats now automatically fire off their EMP burst on their own. You can go into the custom game options, under resourcers and set the start of the game to the number value for a normal game OR set it to production, or Empire mode... which allow you to start the game with all the way up to a battlestation shipyard, carriers, and some fighting units... So if you want to play BIG fleet battles right from the gate, set the starting honor high, and turn on empire mode. hehe. Few other things I can't remember offhand. But the game is insane (more so than before, if thats possible) hehe. Also, Beghins is talking about a version 7 now... I'm really suprised, considering this was going to be the last version. Excited though:)
