slacker. the folders to the left of the post indicates the status of the thread. This particular thread as a red dot in the folder that looks like a pin. this thread has been stickied, it will not move, and will always remain on top unless the admin chooses. They also tell you how popular a thread is, and if it has been locked, or a new post has been applied. etc...

Exalting someone raises their Karma & Smiting them lowers their Karma. If some one posts something you really like, you exalt them. If someone posts something stupid, you smite them. In general, your Karma is supposed to represent how well liked you are on the boards. However, they tend to abuse it sometimes. Some people are at +/- 100 Karma on the Dragon boards.
By the way, here is an exalt for you!
